| Today, our group came up with many ideas of ways to better teacher-student relationships and ways to have lessons taught based on how students learn best. Our group decided to do this because teacher-student relationships are very important and the closer a teacher is to a student the better the teacher knows them and how to teach them. One idea that we had was to have teachers cook with small groups of students and have them make a fun meal together. Another idea was to have teachers and students go to Sky Zone together. A third idea was to have a "get to know you better" rotation where students and teachers have a fun rotation where every teacher does something fun with every class they have for one rotation. The activity would help the students get to know the teacher better. A fourth idea was one on one meetings with teachers and students to just talk about how their life is going outside of school. This would help form better student-teacher relationships. We also decided that it would be a good idea to create a survey to go to teachers where students could say how they learn best. This could help students learn better because the teacher could incorporate the class's learning style into their lesson. Our evidence of learning are pictures of our brainstorming ideas board where we wrote down our ideas and drew a few out. We also had sticky notes on our board with each ideas feasibility, viability and desirability. | |
this accurately sums up our work done for today. we are still in need of more ideas, and have yet to come up with ways to make the ideas we do have into feasible events.
ReplyDeleteNice JOb! We still need to show how important student teacher relationships are.
ReplyDeleteI think that Liam had a very good overlook of the whole day. We are still in the very beginning steps of our idea development. Liam talked specifically about what particular ideas we had, but I want to talk about the reasoning behind why I choose topic. I have fairly close bonds with several teachers at Hawken. These bonds were formed through talking about our similarities, and for me talking about my life outside of the classroom. What I've noticed is that the classes taught by a teacher I consider myself close to, are more engaging and have more takeaways for me as a student. I think that there is some variability in our group's rationale, but we all agree on one thing; to improve the already great Hawken learning environment for students to get the absolute most out of their experience here. As the process continues, we will need to revise, edit, and sift through our ideas. I am excited to see what direction our group affirmatively decides to go in, and what differences we can create in our school and the world.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job Liam! I really like the idea of us cooking with the teachers. I liked how you said doing it out side of school. This would allow the students to want to cook with the teachers.
